A new grant is available under TAMS 3 Farm Safety to help with replacement of existing farm shed roofs.
Grant rate
60%
within the €90,000 TAMS ceiling
Purpose
Replace old or unsafe shed roofs to improve farm safety and storm resilience
Scheme
Farm Safety Capital Investment Scheme
Planning is essential
Before applying, farmers must have either:
- Full planning permission granted (with stamped drawings), or
- A Section 5 Declaration of Exempted Development from the local authority
Important
A “decision to grant” is not enough — planning/exemption must be final before the TAMS application is submitted.
Do not start work
Do not start work until planning/exemption is in place and the TAMS application is submitted and approved.
Other key points
- The shed must meet TAMS technical specifications.
- No internal agitation or extraction points may be within the building being re-roofed (e.g., slurry agitation points).
- Structural assessment: In some cases — for example, if the rafters or stanchions are not being replaced — a chartered engineer’s report may be required to demonstrate structural soundness.
- Safety standards: New gutters and proper ventilation may be required where roof elements are replaced.
- An engineer’s report may be required in some cases.
If you are considering a shed roof replacement under TAMS 3, get in touch to discuss your project and make sure everything is in order before applying.
